A new model for school improvement, with a strong focus on student outcomes and impact, is being trialled at 18 ACT public schools this year.
The Student-Centred Improvement Framework (SCIF) has been co-designed with both international experts and principals from across the ACT public school system.
It has been designed to support the increased use of system- and school-level data and evidence to evaluate impact and identify areas of need for students, while also capturing more student, staff and community voice than ever before.
Not only will this new framework ensure schools are focussed on implementing the right strategies, but that they are regularly and systematically tracking the impact on student learning and wellbeing outcomes and adjusting more rapidly in response.
Our ACT public schools are continuously looking for ways to improve outcomes for children and young people of the ACT and surrounds. The SCIF is a systemic and systematic approach that will strengthen the ability of our Public School system to continue to meet and respond to diverse student needs, for those who need additional assistance through to those who need further challenge and extension.
In 2024, the following schools will pilot elements of the new Framework which will then be rolled out to all public schools from 2025:
- Belconnen High School
- Aranda Primary School
- Canberra High School
- UCSSC Lake Ginninderra
